The day I got my Lamy !

The Third of March: The auspicious day when I finally got myself a Lamy fountain pen! I had been wanting for such a long time, and there, look how beautiful it is !!

So i dug out my collection of letter papers, envelopes and my addresses to send out a bunch of letters. My last lot was on Valentine's day, to friends and family, and I think there should be more such occasions where my work desk can be filled with such stationery !

So there, I managed to spend half my day rejoicing the fact that I made my much awaited purchase, and the other celebrating it with some extremely beautiful colours of paper, and efficiently posted them the next morning. Now I simply can't wait for them to reach the lucky recipients! ;)

Long time since I've been here.. Well, there's been a lot going on recently, so I thought it's worth an update!

Two weeks up this semester, and it seems like we're already half way through.

Started with Ergonomics; seemed fairly easy going, but ate up even our weekends, as much as Gourab didn't want it to be like that. And this week, we began with Nature and Form - the 'grand finale' to our previous 3 Form courses; supposed to be very important for our portfolios.

Along with that, in Khel, we've taken up an overly ambitious project of doing a production in less than 20 days for IIM chaos! Last night, we read through this 1 and a half hour script to try and shorten it to a limit of 45 minutes. As lengthy as it is, it's hilarious, and seems like we're going to have a blast! "Ek tha gadha" by Sharad Joshi. And Sambhit's directing it! Can't wait to be a part of the production!

Apart from all this, there's also been a new purchase.. Nehmat and I got ourselves bikes! Finally, I got a bike here!! And it's ELECTRIC BLUE!
So, her's is called Lola, and mine's Lamy! :D

You can see I've already started experimenting to yarn bomb it! ;)

We made ourselves an early morning schedule right from the first day of the semester, and this just makes it beautiful! Our first visit to the Sabarmati riverfront (right next to college really) was on our bikes a couple of days back, and they've done a brilliant job out of it! I couldn't have imagined it better. It's amazing to cycle there!

I should get back to sketching my whirligig beetle now.

Just a parting tip: When you know you have to come back the same way, make sure you're not with the wind while going. You'll die on your way back.

Desperate for yarn!

Finally, in about .. umm.. a week?

I would like to thank my group mates: the PD girls, for their constant support and for placing countless crochet orders (which I WILL fulfil one day! :D ).. and, not to forget, Subir Das, who scheduled a long long session of class presentations during which alone I did a quarter of this piece!

Sadly, most of my yarn is over now, and winter's not even close to touch wool (especially in obnoxious little Ahmedabad). Any store suggestions?! Else I'm going to have to fall out of love and find myself another addiction till the holidays.. Wish me luck!

Cheers!

So it continues..

While we're onto our design project, 'DISCO', my heart and soul is still hung onto singles, doubles, trebles and filets..

About a week back, we all bought our very first tablets; Wacom Intuos 4. As excited as I was to get my hands on it, the feeling soon translated onto how I would make my poor, vulnerable new piece of equipment safe and comfortable. And before I could actually put the thing to any good use, I spent my whole Saturday sitting around in my room to make my Wacom cosy... And don't judge me, but it's one of my favourite ways to spend my holiday; well, not 'just' the holiday..

..which brings me to my current project! DISCO (which, by the way, as fancy as 'they' make it sound, still remains Display and Control!) is just the side project. The ghost of crochet has made it's way back into my life. Yes, we were on a break for about 2 months, but as it seems, we're both just too irresistible!

..And I'm in love all over again! :)

So, I'm half way through this project of mine. Should be another few days, or may be just another beautiful weekend will do it !

Till then, go fall in love! Trust me, it's a beautiful feeling!! :)

Crochet all the way !

We had our much awaited open electives in January 2012, and I chose 'Portable net', which was being conducted by Sheila Klein. Always having had interest in textiles and handwork, I wouldn't have let go of this wonderful opportunity to learn the technique of crochet and experiment with it with a person like Sheila, seeing the crazy kind of work she's done.. always trying something new!!

So, apart from the fact that I got completely addicted to crochet for the longest time, and tried most of the usual stuff you make out of crochet, I tried developing a new idea : Crocheted Spectacle Cosy

This is for all those who like to spice up their boring ol' spectacles with a new flavour every day!
(Not to forget those irritated with the metal allergies!!)
